Michael Manning-Prior FRSA
Chief Executive, EDW

Michael Manning-Prior FRSA

Michael Manning-Prior has over 20 years senior level experience working both strategically and on the front line in the field of enterprise development, business incubation and youth enterprise.

Michael has led on formulating and implementing strategies for the funding, development and transfer of innovation to assist organisations to establish enterprise programmes and business centres both nationally and internationally.

More recently, Michael has extended these international partnerships to include Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, and he is advising on the development of a range of enterprise initiatives in these regions. He has also led on developing and establishing Enterprise Development Worldwide (EDW), in the firm belief that advice and support to organisations in the field of enterprise development should be based on practitioner knowledge and expertise, combined with practical support.

Michael has established programmes in the UK, as well as multi-partner and multilingual projects across the emerging and transitional economies of Central and Eastern Europe, including Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, and in Mediterranean countries such as Greece and Spain. He is also working with partners operating in, for example, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda.

Prior to his role as Chief Executive of EDW, Michael was, for 18 years, Chief Executive of Wandsworth Youth Enterprise Centre (WYEC), the registered charity from which EDW evolved. During this time, WYEC’s outreach and business incubation services expanded substantially and Michael led the establishment and development of youth enterprise programmes at national and international levels.

Michael also raised the funding for and developed Trident Business Centre, a £2.7 million 90 unit - 46,000 sq.ft. - commercial managed workspace for small businesses, which became operational in 1998. The Centre provides a long-term funding stream for the Charity and a progression path for clients moving on from WYEC into commercial premises.

Michael has been a key speaker at a range of international conferences in the UK, mainland Europe, Iceland and the United States, disseminating best practice.

Before joining WYEC, Michael gained extensive business management experience in the small business sector, with direct experience of developing and running his own successful enterprises.
