Having obtained his degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College, University of London, John Burdet became a Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, later being elevated to the Institution of Structural Engineers as Associate Member.
In his early career, John worked as a Civil Engineer on West Hartlepool Steel Mills, the Tunis Motorway and several blocks of multi-storey flats in Glasgow. He also undertook project work on standard lightweight school and factory trusses in steelwork, many projects in reinforced concrete, and some steel and timber structure projects.
John later carried out the project work on several residential flats complexes in the Midlands for the British Legion and for various Local Authorities in Derbyshire, two city centre developments, several commercial and industrial developments and a major work-out for system built concrete structures.
Following this, he undertook further commercial and industrial projects in Ireland, worked on a proposed holiday town development in Boghaz, Cyprus, including a marina, 200 bedroom hotel, casino and new town. Currently running his own business, John has designed and seen through to completion a new factory for Spreckley Sage, shop fitters, and has specialised in the conversion of Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and later buildings into flats. He has also advised on a number of engineering issues relating to Trident Business Centre.
