James Jolly
Project Manager
James Jolly is a highly skilled project manager who has been working on a range of our national and international projects since 2001.
During this time, James has been instrumental in helping to secure major funding from such sources as the UK’s Big Lottery Fund and the European Union’s Leonardo Da Vinci Programme. This funding assisted in the delivery of projects helping to develop youth enterprise centres in the UK and Central Europe over the period from 2004 to 2007. The work involved general administration, management of partners and, importantly, the production of necessary reports and evaluations.
In his role at EDW, James is currently managing a further project funded by the Leonardo Da Vinci Programme and led by EDW, to carry forward the achievements of the initial project in Central Europe. The particular focus of this project is to set up a Society to maintain the impetus of youth enterprise development in the region once the Leonardo Da Vinci Programme funding ends in late 2009. James is also helping with other project work undertaken by EDW, including a new research project to assess the impact of youth enterprise training on the most disadvantaged young people in different communities around England.
Prior to joining the team, James was a senior civil servant for the UK government and an experienced administrator with 32 years service. He graduated in Modern History, took a Graduates’ Commerce Diploma and joined the civil service from university. He worked in the former Department of Employment from 1970 to 1987, and then transferred to the Department of Trade and Industry. Among the mix of jobs he has had, he has worked in the areas of employment policy, health and safety policy, overseas labour relations and inner city policy.
