James Dick
Project and Technical Management Consultant
James Dick, a graduate of the Charles University Prague’s Institute of Linguistic and Professional Studies, has worked extensively in the UK and across Europe as project manager and process consultant for complex European Union (EU) programmes, and in many other countries in the world.
James, who is proficient in a number of European languages, is experienced in project cycle management, logical framework, monitoring and evaluation and preparing terms of reference. He is an expert on the 2007-2013 EU financial instruments and programmes, eg EuropeAid Relex, Regional Policy, Research, Trade Development and the implementation of methodology training workshops in pre-and-post accession countries.
A successful proposal writer for EU competitive tenders, James also has extensive experience of transnational and multicultural programmes and promoting good working relationships at all levels and in all spheres in the private and public sectors.
James has delivered numerous business development methodology and innovation issue-specific workshops to regional innovation teams in the EU 25. Subject matters included: promoting trade through innovation in manufacturing and service companies, cooperation between universities and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), clusters and innovation networks, financing innovation, benchmarking, monitoring and regional indicators.
Within the UK, James was Project Manager of the London Wandle Valley Consortium ENACTE project, the largest UK project under Round I of the ADAPT (European Social Fund) Programme, comprising 22 projects. The ENACTE project aimed to raise levels of employability through upskilling and reskilling long-term unemployed young people, those aged over fifty, marginalised and disadvantaged groups, and through mentoring SMEs.
James was previously Deputy Chief Executive of Business Link London South West, the operating company of the largest government sponsored business support and training service organisation in London. His responsibilities included managing and training business advisers, establishing partnerships and drawing up contracts and terms of reference for outsourcing service providers.
In the course of his career to date, James has worked in Africa (North, West and East), Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Caribbean, Central America, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Mediterranean Region, the Middle East, the Netherlands, North America, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South America, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
