Regeneration Enterprise Project, Rose Town, Jamaica
Creating enterprise opportunities in a challenging environment
EDW is collaborating with the Prince’s Youth Business International and the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment to develop a programme of enterprise support to contribute to the ecologically sustainable regeneration of Rose Town.
Together, we seek to facilitate the blending of ecologically sustainable regeneration with practical business support and enterprise incubation. The Foundation has a multi-disciplinary team of architects, urban designers and urban planners and one of its main aims is to develop a number of exemplar projects. These will vary in terms of scale and setting and should reveal that attention to timeless and ecological ways of planning, designing and building can improve the quality of people’s lives.
The Prince’s Youth Business International (YBI) is an international network of programmes that help disadvantaged young people to become entrepreneurs, by providing them with access to volunteer mentoring and funds in the form of loans, without the need for guarantees or collateral. EDW can complement this offering through providing support organisations with the training necessary to set up community engagement, outreach and business counselling and training and incubation programmes for young people.
