Building a robust model of enterprise support
London Youth Support Trust (LYST), which participated in the youngbusiness.net UK programme, has formed a partnership of support with public, charitable and corporate sector organisations, to create affordable commercial premises for young entrepreneurs in London.
LYST is a registered Charity and its primary aim is to provide suitable, affordable premises with relevant, timely and comprehensive on-site business and personal development support, including finding innovative ways of increasing sales. It does this through a developing network of Business Incubation Centres, across London.
Through its relationship with Workspace plc, LYST has developed small incubator spaces within larger, commercially managed workspaces, giving young entrepreneurs the foothold they need to get their ventures off the ground.
Following on the success of the LYST business incubation centres in Deptford and Hackney, LYST’s latest units are now up and running in Haringey. Located in the Bernie Grant Arts Centre complex in Tottenham, it is home to 19 young new entrepreneurs.
In London, the high levels of commercial rent and the need for substantial deposits exclude a large section of the population from the commercial premises market.
